How much does a five-day trip cost?

The question is not “how much is the flight” but “how much is the trip”. For each of the 378 destinations below, the budget adds the best return fare actually observed from our 12 departure cities to five days on the ground (simple accommodation, meals, transport) at the country's average cost. A €30 flight to a capital costing €110 a day works out dearer than a €150 flight to a country costing €35 a day. To see the same thing on a map, open the cheap flights map in “flight + trip” mode.

Every destination has its own page: budget by trip length (3 to 14 days), by travel style, from each departure city, and the best month to go.

Frequently asked questions

How is the five-day budget calculated?

Budget = the best return fare actually observed to that destination from one of the 12 departure cities we track (readings from the last three days) + 5 × the country’s traveller cost of living (simple accommodation, meals, local transport — 2026 average, per person). Activities, insurance and shopping are not included.

Is the cost of living the same across a country?

No: it is a national average. A capital city or a beach resort costs more than the interior, and high season can double accommodation. Use these figures to compare destinations with each other, not as a quote.

Can you travel for less than these budgets?

Yes: by leaving from another city, in another month (each destination page has the calendar), by staying in hostels or cooking your own meals. The “shoestring” style on each page is about 30 % less on the ground.

Where do these prices come from?

The fares shown are real observed prices from recent flight searches (round trip, per person), refreshed continuously. They give a reliable snapshot of the market, but can change hour to hour: the final price is always verified with the booking partner when you book.
